Delhi-bound Air India Dreamliner makes mid-air U-turn, lands back in Hong Kong

New Delhi — June 16, 2025: An Air India Boeing Dreamliner, en route from Hong Kong to Delhi, was forced to turn back mid-flight on Monday and landed safely back at Hong Kong International Airport. The exact reason for the aircraft’s unexpected return has not yet been disclosed.

The flight had departed Hong Kong at 12:16 pm (local time) and was supposed to arrive in Delhi at 12:20 pm IST. This incident follows closely on the heels of a tragic Air India crash a few days ago, when a Dreamliner headed from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in the loss of 241 lives, including crew and people on the ground.
